There is a wonderful self-assurance about the zero-sum game when you are always on the winning side. The winnings may not amount to much materially or objectively. That is not the point. The feeling of winning is itself the most important of the winnings.

Settler colonialism is a global and transnational phenomenon, and as much a thing of the past as a thing of the present. Settlers 'come to stay': they are founders of political orders who carry with them a distinct sovereign capacity.
