Excerpt: As I become more informed about Wabanaki ancestral knowledges, I do my best to incorporate them into my communitybased, action-oriented research endeavours. This has made it clear to me that Wabanaki concepts of health and wellness are directly linked to land and water. Thus, it is vitally important to me that my research includes a critical examination of the many levels of Indigenous and settler relationships to land and water. Raising my own critical awareness of classic colonialism and settler colonialism as two separate but interrelated time periods greatly informs my research lens in this area.
